You exist not only as a member of a family or a company or a country, but as a member of a species – you are human.

The new Cure album is out. Has anyone listened to it yet? I’ll have to go pick it up sometime this weekend.

I’m still a bit disappointed that I can’t afford to go see the Cure in concert this August. I suppose it might be better anyhow. Robert Smith is getting a bit old and if I go see the concert and it turns out to be sub-expectation, that’ll be the last impression I’ll have of him and that great band. Everyone wants to go out on top and everyone wants only the fondest memories to look back on.

screamed at the make-believe, screamed at the sky and you finally found all your courage to let it all go

Saw Bowling for Columbine yesterday night and some of the figures in the movie are mind boggling. How is it that the US had around 1200 gun-related murders last year compared to about 1/2 of that for Canada, Britain, Australia, and Japan combined. What’s even more mind boggling and ironic is that Charleton Heston played Moses in The 10 Commandments.

Moore definitely makes a strong case against the NRA and the US media. This is a must see for all the supporters of stricter gun control in our society.

Haven't heard the new Cure - want to....what do you think of 311's remake of "Love Song"? I love the song so it's good to hear it on the radio even if it's remade...but it's not the best.

I honestly don't like the remake but the original is definitely a great song. In general I'm generally not a fan of remakes at all. Frou Frou's remake of "Hero" is the only one off the top of my head that I like better than the original.

1. I think the remake of Love Song sucks. If you're going to remake a song, do it with originality, change something, anything. It just sounds like someone singing karaoke trying to sound like RS. I wouldve preferred a version with female vocals.

2. What's up with my timing, I'm leaving from TO August 8th, Cure concert there is Aug 9th, no shows in the Bay Area. Dammit.

Have you heard The Ataris' remake of Just Like Heaven?...it's pretty awful too...

Well you could change or extend your trip to Toronto to accomodate for the Cure :P

if you're not busy sunday night at 7 pm CDT, i encourage you to log on to my local alternative radio station and listen to a neat program called the adventure club. it's hosted by a college friend of mine, josh, and he's doing a cure tribute. 3 straight hours of cure and an interview with robert smith. he's promising lots of rare stuff, live stuff, and collaborations. the giveaways won't help you much though, unless you can make it to dallas. :)

We have a local radio station called 102.1 The Edge as well!! It plays alternative music :)

I will definitely try and be online to listen to this broadcast on Sunday! I'll also put a little blog up as advertising later tonight as free advertising for your friend!

comment #2: on stricter gun control:

my personal viewpoint is this: i respect an individual's right to own hunting rifles and shotguns and even pistols for recreational target shooting or self-defense, should it come to that. my in-laws are perfect examples of responsible gun owners. they hunt and target shoot, and they eat everything they kill. they don't own any assault weapons because they see no need to own them. but they think if they wanted to own such weapons, they should be able to. and that is where i differ with them. people shouldn't be allowed to own automatic or assault weapons. i haven't seen bowling for columbine, but maybe i will now...

heheheh, that's weird about the 102.1 thing. is it owned by ClearChannel, too? i think it's going to be a great program. thanks for the advertising. :)

I think a person should definitely be allowed to protect themselves but within reason. You don't need 10 semi-automatic guns unless you're part of a gang or if you're going to look for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. If you've got kids around be responsible and keep them out of view of the kids, they set a bad example. Keep the guns locked up and unloaded as well. People think just because they have the right to bear arms they have the right to be morons too. That's what leads to "accidents".

I think we need to change people's perception of guns as a necessity to guns as a last resort.

I think there are a lot of overlapping radio stations and names everywhere. I've been to a lot of US states where 99.9 is MIX FM. I don't believe 102.1 here is owned by Clear Channel.

I can't wait to hear the Cure on your buddy's show!! Did you buy The Cure's Greatest Hits? The double cd with 1 being the live versions of the songs. They sound great live! I need to go and find their new album this weekend.
